The Music Ministry at Barcelona Road Baptist Church has something for everyone! We sing and play “psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.” We worship, sing and pray “in spirit and in truth,” with energy and sincerity, in the power of God’s Holy Spirit and with the understanding of His Word, the Bible. Our music includes everything from Bach and Handel, to traditional hymns and spirituals, to contemporary praise and worship selections.

Our 45-voice choir serves as lead worshipers every Sunday for the 10:30 a.m. worship service with a warm-up rehearsal at 8:45 a.m. The main rehearsal is Wednesday, 7:15-8:45 p.m., but we consider the congregation our biggest and most important “choir.”

The lead choir presents three major programs throughout the year at Christmas, Easter, and in the summer, usually accompanied by an orchestra of ten to fifteen instruments. Anyone high school age and up may sing in our choir provided he or she will commit to being faithful to rehearsals and services, and can carry a tune in the same key with everyone else. Our church now has sufficient funds to purchase a 3-octave set of handbells. The handbell fund was established last year as a memorial for Caudis Hicks. Barbara Hicks and we in the music ministry are most grateful for each one who has contributed to this fund. We anticipate starting handbell choirs for older children, youth, and adults as interest grows and directors are enlisted and trained.
