Women Who Care
The
Women Who Care Women's Ministry meets the 2nd Thursday each month at
7:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall.
Today's
woman is searching for ways to connect with other women who are facing
the same life challenges. She is also seeking for meaning to her own
life by reaching out and serving others in her community. Jesus
understands the needs of His own. Thus His church is called to the work
of ministering to one another as the Apostle Paul tells us in his
epistle to the Ephesians (Eph. 4:12). Therefore, the various Women's
Ministry activities that are offered at BRBC serve as a means for the
women in our church to have their needs met by experiencing spiritual
growth, serving through missions and fulfilling the Great Commission
through evangelism and discipleship. According to Ms. Gardner's article,
our needs will be met through the five things that every Women's
Ministry should include: Fellowship, Relationship, Authenticity, Prayer,
and Service.
Every
Women's Ministry activity should strive to provide multiple
opportunities for women to experience the joy of Christian fellowship.
When women gather together and just enjoy each other's company, when
they spend time with others who enjoy doing the same things they like to
do, then this creates community within the church.
Every
Women's Ministry activity needs to allow time for women to develop
meaningful relationships. We are all created to want or need
relationships, but especially women who often surround themselves with
friends, family, and others in their communities. Relationships
are built and strengthened through fellowship and other social
activities, through participating in Bible Studies and through serving
in missions. By developing meaningful relationships with other Christian
women, the result is that we in turn deepen our own personal
relationship with God.
Every
Women's Ministry activity needs to allow for women to be authentic with
one another. Women often search for a place where they can be accepted
for who they are and not have to keep up an image forced upon them by
our world. Our role as ministers is to help each other see ourselves as
God sees us. In the words of the song, I Am New by Christian
artist Jason Gray, in God's eyes we are "forgiven, beloved, hidden in
Christ, made in the image of the Giver of Life, righteous and holy,
reborn and remade, accepted and worthy. This is our new name".
Every
Women's Ministry activity needs to encourage women to regularly pray
with and for each other. Through prayer, women are given the opportunity
to share what is on their hearts and their burdens with other women.
When we spend meaningful time in prayer with one another, our faith is
strengthened and our relationships with one another and ultimately our
relationship with God will deepen.
Every
Women's Ministry activity needs to include an opportunity to serve
together through missions. It is through serving one another and
others in our local communities, in our city, county or state, or even
at the national or international level, that women often feel that they
are truly serving God by meeting the physical and emotional needs of
other women and their children and other family members.
As we
start out the New Year, please be thinking about how we can incorporate
these five things into each Women's Ministry activity. God will be
glorified by your efforts.
